Detailed description:
The 34-acre property lies on a wooded peninsula on the south side of Whycocomagh Bay of the Bras dOr Lake, which is with around 1100 km2 and innumerable ponds and islands the largest saltwater lake on earth.
This little cozy cottage was build following ecological aspects on the shore of the Bras dOr Lakes. The cathedral ceiling and the loft gives a feeling of generous space. Lots of pine paneling is in pleasing contrast with white areas. The excellent insulation gives pleasant cooling in summer and the wood stove will warm the cottage and your mind in winter.
The cottage has its own driveway, well-groomed lawn and a little dock on the gently sloped beach. The shore is protected by MacInnes Island, which makes it perfect for fishing and swimming.
Our central location is an ideal starting point for exploring Cape Breton Island, the famous Cabot Trail, Highland National Park, Fortress Louisburg, or just for the relaxing quiet of your very own holiday home. It is especially suitable for elderly and those of us, who want much privacy and a very peaceful location right on the water without being in the nowhere.
Enjoy magical sunsets over the water and look towards the mountains on the other side. Fill your days with quiet walks on the empty beach and pick star fish or oysters. Just in case the salty breeze should bother you once, then take a book to the roofed patio on the south side of the cottage.

The land lord family lives on the next property and would be happy to assist you with all your needs, regarding your whale watching tour, with secret tips to unexplored water falls, to hidden spots for moose hikes.

The nearest villages are: Orangedale (18 km), Whycocomagh (25 km, 3 Restaurants, post office, gas stations, ambulance, grocery store, bakery and Baddeck (35 km, numerous restaurants, galleries, stores, marina, hospital).
The famous Cabot Trail, the Highland National Park, the Fortress Louisburg, Alexander Graham Bell Museum, several waterfalls and world-class hiking trails eg. Skyline-Trail are nearby.

How to find us:
FROM AIRPORT HALIFAX: The whole distance from the International Airport Halifax to the Cottage and B&B amounts to approximately 270 km. Keep on driving on the Trans Canada Highway after you reached Cape Breton Island until Exit 4, just before the village Whycocomagh (halfway between Canso Causeway and Baddeck). From Exit 4 drive 3 km towards Orangedale and turn left towards Iona / Portage. Do not go into the village Orangedale! Stay 8 km on this road until you see our property down at the waterside.
