Detailed description:

Casa Rosário Coelho, built in 1837 and restored in 1993/95, still preserves its original character. It is located in Serra de Fora, on the south-eastern side of the island of Porto Santo, in an estate with 150 ha.

The Main House has 2 bedrooms (totally independent, with direct access for the garden), with en-suite bathroom and twin beds, a room with TV, and a dully equipped kitchen. Both living room and kitchen have several antique furniture and utensils. These facilities serve the guests from both rooms.

In Casa Rosário Coelho you will also find other Holiday houses totally independent from each other: The Gallery House (accommodates 6 persons), Middle House (4 persons) and the Grandfather's House (4 persons).

Porto Santo Island is a Portuguese island 43 kilometres (27 mi) northeast of Madeira Island in the North Atlantic Ocean.

It is considered the last paradise island in Europe. Besides its nine kilometres long white sand beach, in this island you will also find a golf course, tennis courts, delicious cuisine and, above all, a unique atmosphere of peace and quiet.

Description of the area:

In Casa Rosário Coelho, you are welcome to visit the museum area, offering an exhibition of different ancient artefacts and some farm implements, part of the way of life of this population, and, as such, of the history of Porto Santo.

Wide and beautiful surrounding gardens, with countless retreats and a threshing-floor (fundamental in the life of a farmer), offer you extraordinary peacefulness and quietness. The grill restaurant complete this “paradise”.

You can climb all the way to Pico dos Maçaricos, which belongs to Casa Rosário Coelho, and from there you can enjoy a breathtaking landscape that you will never forget – you will have the whole of Porto Santo at your feet.

If you prefer, you can also go for a walk along the main road, for about 800 metres, to “Porto dos Frades” where you will find 5 small beaches of crystal-clear waters that will invite you to pleasant bathing and fishin

How to find us:

By Boat

Exit at Porto de Abrigo, go through Estrada Jorge de Freitas, you will find a roundabout where you will find the Aeroporto (airport) road sign. Follow that direction, until you arrive at a crossroads and go up the main road on your right. Always in that direction, you will go through Sítio das Casinhas. There, you will pass close to Capela da Graça and Miradouro da Portela, and then go down all the way to Serra de Fora. Only when you find the “Porto dos Frades” road sign you will leave the main road and turn right. Go straight ahead for about 500 metres. On your right you will find Casa Rosário Coelho.
